When Homer sees the grave he thought was his mother's and finds out it's Walt Whitman's he starts yelling, "damn you Walt Whitman, Leaves of Grass my ass!" or something like that.... would Homer really know that Whitman's masterpiece was Leaves of Grass?

As far as I know, this is the only reference to Walt Whitman ever in the Simpsons. Can anyone prove me wrong? Join me or die! Can you do any less?
(Compare this to author Edgar Allan Poe, a contemporary of Whitman's... he has been mentioned many, many times...)
I think you're right fishy, I wrote a big-ass paper on Whitman this year in school so I'm somewhat familiar with his stuff and I have not seen any refs to his poems....but yeah, someone read all of Leaves of Grass, then watch all the eps....who knows, u might find something...
