I know you NG nerds hate this topic but...

I'm going to ask it anyway because i didn't turn it up in a search: rate your favorite sitcom cartoons from the following list:

Simpsons (AS A WHOLE, INCLUDING THE PAST FEW SEASONS) King of the Hill Family Guy South Park Futurama

When I say favorite I mean the ones you find the most enjoyable, not necessarily which ones were the funniest. I'll be the first to admit that KOTH isn't nearly as laugh out loud funny as some of the others, but I still enjoy watching it because of the character depth and believable plotlines.

The above is my list in order of favorite to least favorite. Although I've despised the last few seasons of the Simpsons, the earlier ones 2-10 more than make up for it. Family Guy has the best gags, IMO. South Park is too repetetive for my tastes (the "Shit" episode and "Jared Has Aides" come to mind). Futurama, I'm sorry to say, was a *huge* disappointment for me. I honestly think it was the choice of voice actors, rather than the jokes that ruin it for me (although some of the jokes are very lame). Peggy Segal is just not cut out for it, Zoidberg is incredibly annoying and the professor's voice just can't seem to carry a joke. Fry and Bender are the clear standouts, but they can't carry an entire show.

I hate to say it, but Simpsons are now 3rd for me.

Also notice the gap between #4 and 5. The difference there being I watch the first 4 and can't stand KOTH. Most of those characters are just too painful to watch.

1. Ren & Stimpy 2. Spongebob Squarepants 3. Power Puff Girls 4. South Park 5. The Simpsons (I like the first 4 seasons and the Tracy Ullman shorts, but seasons 8-13 have lowered my opinion of the show.)

6. Family Guy (Had some real funny jokes, but the character design and animation are ugly.)

• Futurama (Looks pretty, but I didn't care for the characters or stories.)

• King of the Hill (Too much of an eyesore, and preachy to boot!)

Simpsons (1-8) Futurama Family Guy(I like this show, so sue me...) South Park (has a suprising satirical edge to it. Just would be better without much of the sick stuff).

And for the record, KOTH is absent simply because I dont' like it. Its not even that its not funny, as I can do without that as long as I like the characters. But in this case, I just don't...maybe its just personal taste, but they always seem too stiff to me.

overall 1. Simpsons (90% of episodes from the last three or four seasons have been either just unimpressive or recklessly unpleasant ; but absolutely nothing, animated or not, can fuck with the first seven seasons, and most of seasons 8+9) 2. Futurama (very dull characters, and has had some awful storylines, but its current standard of production is miles above that of the Simpsons) 3. King Of The Hill (meh....reasonable, but very repetitive and unengaging) 4. South Park (the satire is not great, and it's buried under shitloads of witless toilet humor and ridiculous repetitive stories) 5. Family Guy (a irritating overweight jackass as the main character who is unpleasant for no reason and totally lacking in depth. a few other family members who are all completely useless, predictable and dull. and hey, how about making some things talk that aren't supposed to talk, like babies, or dogs - that'll be funny. contrived plots that can't make up their mind whether they are cliched or just plain stupid. some horribly forced, banal, painfully unsubtle and very unintelligent self-satisfied kiddie satire. In other words, it is exactly like the very worst Simpsons episodes, except instead of that show's warm familiarity and excellent design, you have to sit through extremely ugly characters and brutally pathetic drawings. overall, just awful. why bother? )

Considered as a whole, The Simpsons is still the best show, but the recent seasons now really start to destroy that reputation. I think almost every Futurama episode (with a few exceptions) is better than Simpsons past Season 9. F3K stuff like "Parasites Lost", "A Head in the Polls", "Godfellas" or "Jurassic Bark" is IMO equal with The Simpsons in their greatest time. There certainly is a lack of character depth in F3K but the writing is far better than recent OFF.

To come to my short rate list:

1. Simpsons (as a whole still a masterpiece, but the seasons past 9 now really start to destroy the reputation. In its present state no longer the best show on TV.)

2. Futurama (often lacking depth but mostly brilliant writing and best show on TV. I think it started to be better and even deeper with more serious episodes in its later seasons. There would be much potential if they would follow that line. Alas, it�s cancelled now.)
