Gil is better than real life

I've been checking out my movies from the libarry called something like glengarry ross and noticed that one of the characters reminds me of Gil. The movie is foul-mouthed and not suitable for children, but makes me wonder if Gil was copied from the movie. I also saw a 1932 movie called something like robinson crusoe, and it had monkey butlers! I wonder if that idea was copped for the episode where the kids get stuck on an island when the school bus took a wrong turn. You know, I'm beginning to suspect that the Simpsons writers are not being fully creative and are stealing ideas from others. Douglas Fairbanks has a much more annoying laugh than Krusty though less raspy (did he not smoke enough?), so I am not sure there, but I think they both went to the same hebrew school with dolf.
