I enjoyed Marge showing Rod and Todd how to have more fun, and in fact most of the Flanders story. I guess Ned's extra-ridiculous parenting methods can be explained by Maude's absence, but it did get a little too silly sometimes. (For example, watching bread... funny in principle, but a little much in this context.) The monkey story (at least from Toot-Toot's perspective) had some good moments, but Captain Wacky was starting to get on my nerves. I would say that in general this episode suffered from the zany gag syndrome, without enough in either story to make me care enough to overlook that. ("In Marge We Trust" has been mentioned in the week leading up to this episode, and it has not only kidnapping primates but also a Marge mentoring story... is it the Marge/Ned/Tim storyline in that episode that makes me think more highly of that episode, or is it the passage of time? I suppose only time itself will tell.) Some things did make me laugh in particular, however, such as Todd's permission slip mask, Bumblebee Man's public affairs show, and Homer's compelling DVD screen, and that's worth something.
