"I once destroyed Buddy Ebsen's credit rating" <- ??

In last night's episode "Last Tap Dance in Springfield," Little Vicki Valentine (tap dance instructor) says she "...destroyed Buddy Ebsen's credit rating," and when Lisa asks why, she said "He knows why." I'm dumbfounded as to what this is all about. Shirley Temple did dance a number with Buddy Ebsen when she was 6, but I've been unable to connect this "credit rating" statement to anything. Does anyone have any ideas?
