My Mother... Sloppy Editing!

In the 11/9 episode My Mother the Carjacker, right after Homer shows Marge the hidden message in the newspaper, there is a blue frame with white words:

THE SIMPSONS TAKE 02 SC 075 AKOM

I'm not seeing it...could you be more specific? I'm assuming it's in act I, but I freeze-framed through that whole scene and saw nothing. What words/actions are before and after it?

Both digital recorders. Possibly the single frame simply gets discarded by the a-d conversion.

I recorded both east and west coast feeds (NY and LA) on a VCR and it was on both airings.

Yes, it is only one frame (field). Invisible in play mode, you must STEP through it. I recorded it in SLP, too. It is right after Homer says "4 street midnight".

It only appears on one field, or half a frame. Your VCR probably doesn't advance by fields, but some do.

You can tell if your VCR advances by the field if it takes 2 or 3 steps to change to the next picture.

BTW do you know what the letters AKOM stand for?

I'm not sure it stands for anything. Akom is the name of the company that did the Korean work on this episode. The screen indicates a scene number - among other things, directors use it to indicate which scenes need to be redone.
