Why have the writers felt the need to succumb to gross-out humor? Here are some recent examples:

The scab on Homer's knee injury growing over Ralph's hand The badger in SLH's doghouse ripping Homer's stomach open Homer squeezing a penny so hard that it goes into his bloodstream ________________________________________________________________

Also Homer eating his "leprosy chest sore" Homer getting the grease vacuum stuck on his eye. When he pulls it away, his eyball is bulging out.

I agree. From the same episode: "Hog anus". Two of the reasons it's the worst episode ever, IMO.

This example isn't exactly gross, but it's far on the side of bad taste. Homer's being operated on, Lisa comments on how many times they've seen Homer undergo surgery, and Marge says "One more and I get a free hysterectomy."

And also, Marge in the Paul Bunyan sequence, saying that she still needs a few more yoga classes... *shudder*

Yeah, but that one is really funny. I think it's the unexpectedness of it. T

Bart :"Ah!"

Homer: "What's wrong?"

Bart: "...Nothing..."

And later:

Bart: "Wheres the hose?"

Homer: "Bringing up the rear!"

(Please feel free to correct the quotes) (I know you will) Just be glad we don't see a lump moving in the hose!

Frightening, but always makes me laugh- right after this, Bart asks Homer if he's excited, and Homer says "Oh yeah!" and the hose jumps up and down.

I agree - i did not think that was very funny or witty at all.

Let's not forget about the ass-scratching fork or Marge as a Q-Tip. Bathroom humor is funny when the gross stuff is implied (Homer going to the bathroom in Mr. Burn's mansion in "Last Exit to Springfield"), but it rapidly loses its humor when it is explicitly stated or shown. For instance, I enjoyed watching a mug cleaned out with spit, but I did not like seeing Grampa put his dentures back in after they had been in the dog's mouth.

I also liked when Smithers has just cleaned the urinals and is really proud of himself, when Homer rushes in saying, "Man I really gotta--" and then we see the door of the bathroom and hear Smithers scream, "NOOOOOOOOO!!!!" ________________________________________________________________

See, but that's *good* gross humour.

Notice that you didn't see Homer's urine. You heard Homer, but they didn't show him. The gross out stuff could've taken away from the humour...
