Hey, good this you people know a joke when you see it. I was in the dragonball newsgroup and I wrote:
(subject) Is it piracy if I.... (message) Go into a video store dressed as a pirate and say arrrr where be thee dragonball video
and the responce I got was:
Not in America. Under the copyright laws (and whatever other applicable laws), if you own a CD/DVD/Videotape, you are allowed to copy it FOR YOUR OWN USE ONLY. Which also means you could not say "well, my use of it is to sell it to someone". You cannot sell it or give the copy to your friend. Unfortunatley, the RIAA and the Motion Picture industry is trying to make people believe that is not so. They are actually engagin in illegal acts by putting copy protection on dvds and video tapes, and now, they're trying to put it on music CDs. Only problem is, many older CD players, PC CD drives and DVD players can't read some of these new music CDs (regular ones, not enhanced or anything special).
