Lisa enjoys Homer's hug, even though it's based on idiocy? ... Heaven has trash? And cigar(ette)s? ... it never occurred to the angels to just wish that Homer's destruction be undone? ... the reference to the famous painting of The Last Supper in the last scene at Moe's?

Tonight's episode, while not quite the best, was still enjoyable. The satire that was attempted was less-than-great, though certain moments from both the movie and Homer's trip to Heaven made some decent pointed jabs and observations of religion. However, the interchange between God and Homer was, to say the least, disappointing, and Homer's reasons for believing that the rapture was coming were contrived and uninteresting. The fact that something so full of potential was so uninspired is proof that the show, while on the mend, is not quite back to classic quality yet. Still, there was some nice use of minor characters, both the family members who weren't in the spotlight (the whole haircut thing was great, and basically everything Maggie did had me in stitches) and characters like Moe, Lenny, Carl and Flanders all added nice little touches. And the non-satirical part of Heaven was actually pretty funny, if not notably original. All-in-all, a pretty good outing, with an 8/10. (B)

Cut to the inside of OFF's house, where Homer addresses a crowd.) Homer: It came to me in a vision... or maybe it was a drunken haze... or possibly an ice-cream headache!
