Is Lisa getting old?

I have starting to notice something different about the new simpsons. A part from pretty crappy stories recently Lisa Simpson has started to sound a lot older and less sincere in tone.

Yeah, the voices have changed a lot lately. Homer got whinier in seasons 10-12 (his voice is luckily starting to revert back), Lisa has gotten, as you described, older and less sincere sounding, Bart seems a little emotionless himself and maybe higher pitched, and Marge now has an incredibly emotionless and high voice, rather then lower and more down to earth down from earlier episodes. Her voice is actually one of the most annoying things about the show right now.

Are you nuts? Marge's voice is a jewel of the show! It is hilarious, and the show is a damn comedy! Dammit it is a trademark. How the hell can you be a fan and call her voice annoying?

If Marge's newer voice is meant to be funny, then I'm not laughing. The old voice (the true trademark) was much better. The current voice (and for that matter, most of the current voices) makes it sound like the voice actors are tired of the show.

I agree the voices sound a little different lately. I've noticed how bland some of the readings sound. I don't know if it the actors themselves, though, or the way they are directed to act. (The "showrunner" directs the voice over actors on The Simpsons, not the directors. Different showrunners may account for the changes in some seasons.) Maybe the actors have just fallen into a routine, or maybe age has something to do with it.

Julie Kavner's not really "doing" a voice for Marge. That's pretty much her real voice. Check out reruns of "Rhoda" on Nick at Nite or find a movie she's in. She was in some Billy Crystal movie a few years ago where he played a basketball referee and she was a friend of his, although I can't remember the title of the movie. But as soon as she opens her mouth you'll know exactly who she is. I think everyone's voice changes a bit over 14 years, so it's probably just age.

Lisa seems to be reverting back to what she was prior to season 10 or so. don't know about the voice, but the writing is definitely presenting her as more of a 8-year-old girl nowadays....

Just a theory about the voices but could it be that since the actors who do the voices actually age, their voices are simply changing with age?

Not just that, but as a cartoon series ages (and their voice actors), they begin to change the voices slightly to make them easier to do. A good example is Cartman from South Park. The initial voice was kinda croaky, then it gradually got clearer. This was because it was hurting Trey Parker's throat too much doing the voice (which he said in an interview). Even though the simpsons is quite old, since the actors age, it can become difficult to do a particular voice, so it gets changed.
