The End

Some people here have called for OFF to call it a day.

Obviously, eventually it will have to end, but hopefully not yet. So the question has to be asked, what form should the last episode of all take? In the tradition of MASH, Seinfeld etc. it would need to be a one-hour special, but somehow I can't imagine it would be as syrupy as the MASH farewell, where everyone but Potter's horse was crying.

What do you reckon, a devastating explosion that blows everyone to pieces? A sudden revelation that the whole thing had been a dream? (Don't laugh, Roseanne tried it!)

And will there be spin-off series?

Last episode:

Homer is in the hospital. Lovejoy comes to see him and tells him that Barney has rowed to Sweden in a life raft. Homer realizes that he has passed up the opportunity to go with him and escapes from the hospital and is last seen rowing in a small inflatable raft, trying to get to Sweden.

It should be well planned ahead - and ONLY those involved in the first few seasons should have any say in any aspect of the episode in question.

It should be animated in the original style (well, not as far back as the Tracy Ullman Show era), using the old techniques... give those Korean's wrists a terrible strain.

Actually, ditto for the audio as well.

Don't make it too 'special' or different. Rather, just ensure that it at least holds up to the standards we knew from the first ten seasons... That classic sense of timing they had back then has never been bettered.

Actually, with Roseanne, it was her book, not a dream. However, in the Simpsons' case, it's Homer who has the dream, and it turns out everything in the dream really happened.

(And don't forget the ending to one series that went one season too long - St. Elsewhere.)

Carl will move to "The Cleveland Show".

There probably won't be a "last" episode, if for no other reason that Fox would be afraid that they would need (KOTH) or want (Family Guy) to bring the show back and would be painted into a corner.

(Here's an idea: at the end of the last episode, pull back to reveal Fry reading a Simpsons comic book - then they can bring back Futurama as a regular Fox series.)
