Who is the star of the Simpsons?

In their early years, Bart seemed to be the star. Then later on, it seemed to be Homer. When did it begin to change?

Though 'inbetween' it seemed as though all the simpsons cast and the peripheral characters all had their share of the limelight i.e. a true ensemble. Whilst Homer is a funny character and a joy to watch, seeing his antics week after week does tend to get a bit repetitive.

Well, in the early years it was CLEARLY bart. The show gained popularity with the adult audience, so the shift went to homer. most adult shows are about adults not children, and so to be a prime time smash you've got to star adults. The homer-centric simpsons are much better. my opinion.

Bart was popular with the adults, too. The show probably shifted to Homer because he presented more opportunities for the writers. He could have a variety of jobs or be placed in far more settings, such as Moe's bar, etc.
