A great episode!

Last week we got to hear Homer say I'm Hungry again because his JAWS were WIRED SHUT.

That was also the episode's name, JAWS WIRED SHUT.

And why? The blood from the hand and jukebox was great. The dancing too. The turkey noises. Homer saying cougar. Most of the episode was great. Except that stupid eyeball (art).

There was a slight improvement of quality in season 13 (noticeable in episodes like "Little Girl in the Big Ten") but "Homer the Moe" is no part of that improvement, it�s an antithesis to the mere idea of improvement. It�s poorly written, poorly executed, a disgrace to the past and former meaning of the show, relying on flat and stupid sightgags, crude blood stuff and very-low-level-humor (the line about the rotten penis is maybe the worst stuff I�ve ever heard on a Simpsons episode. Yuck. Second worst episode ever, only the alligator crap is IMO still worse.)

What has all this grade-F-material to do with the intelligent, smart, and complex satire the Simpsons used to be in the old days? And yet people call it a great episode.

I'm new to posting in this group but I feel the same as you guys seem to. I just don't think the show is as funny today as it was in seasons 3-9. The way they go about the episodes seems to have changed, there is too much reliance on guest voices and episodes away from springfield. Even the music seems to have changed with little simpson "ditties" in between scenes. And like you say the humour has changed from the intelligent and brilliant humour of the old days. I don't claim to be an absolute hardcore fan as some people in here are but I think I have seen every episode up to season 11, and am slowly catching up on the newer stuff, but I don't enjoy watching the new stuff as much as the re-runs. Also has Dan Castellanta changed the way he does Homer's voice??? It seems so to me.
