Explain the blocks then, if lisa helped

Ok. A wizard did it I guess, but how would Lisa had helped Maggie spell out the things with the blocs when she and Maggie were playing with the Malibu Stacey stuff?

Remember, Lisa was giving her the feedback in other cases subconsciously.

The blocks were already (randomly or purposefully, it doesn't matter) in that order. Lisa simply asked Maggie questions that she could answer by simply grabbing the next available block.

At this point, you may ask why Maggie was able to spell "ICE" with three blocks, but "RICE" and "PRICE" she knew to add only single blocks for? Again, Lisa was giving subconscious reaffirmation until Maggie got "ICE" spelt out correctly. What that was, was too subtle for the viewer to catch (purposefully so, to keep the ending a surprise), but Maggie caught it, and she did it quickly enough after each the "R" and "P" that Maggie didn't want to add more letters.

There's been lots of evidence over the years that Maggie's smarter than the average baby. The Maggie File (http://www.snpp.com/guides/maggie.file.html) makes the case for Maggie the Genius. (You'll have to scroll to the bottom to see it.)

One thing I liked about this episode is that it didn't conclusively say whether Lisa or Maggie was the smarter Simpson. For all we know, it's Bart! Some smart people don't fare well in a traditional academic environment.

True... but dogs can pick up on pretty subtle signals. I would think that babies, being unable to communicate verbally, may be sensitive to them as well. But yeah, it was a bit of a stretch.

Remember, Maggie has a long history of communicating with blocks. If memory serves me correctly, she once spelled "STAR", but when pissed off she toppled the pile to spell "RATS" - forget the episode and the exact scenario.

Also, did she not also play some Beethoven on the xylophone before Homer told her to "keep it down"?
