In this year's Kids' Choice Awards, televised on 4/20 on Nick, "The Simpsons" did what was known to be the impossible -- they won the "Favorite Cartoon" category, dissolving the lock on the category held by Nicktoons since 1992 and "Rugrats" since 1996.
This is the first time since 1991 that a non-Nicktoon has won this category. And the last non-Nicktoon to win -- was "The Simpsons".

Are you kidding me?!? Nickelodeon went down hill once they cancled such great shows as "Pinwheel" and "Today's Special". When I was younger these shows were like visual crack to me. I still remember Jake the Jody and Muffy the mouse and Sam the nightwatchman and Mrs. PennyPacker the store flusy always putting out. Those were great times they were!

Having 2, 4 and seven year old children, I see Nickelodeon about 8 hours a day. Without a doubt, Spongebob is the only show I can honestly say I like on Nick anymore. It's got just enough of the disgusting humor of Ren and Stimpy in it to make it adult-friendly. Just my 2 cents.

And the better Ren &Stimpy's didn't have the Bob Camp "gross-out" humor either. The gross-outs were evidence of the decline of the show due to the exit of John K.
Spongebob is great, an absurdist masterpiece.
