Suicidal Moe

Why are there so many Moe 'suicide' references?

Are the writers attempting to portray him as somebody who is continously depressed? Or a loser?

Probably, but this just occurred to me: the two that jump straight to mind (Homer's Phobia and Grift of the Magi) both involve Christmas...the latter is actually at Christmastime and the former is right after John's robot Santa saves the day. Hmm...

Moe spends his Wednesday evenings reading to childern in the hospital (Homer Loves Flanders 1F14).

Yes.

I can recall a few:

• in an oven with a "NO FUNERAL" note taped to his back.

2. a "that's a great way to do it" remark after hearing about jumping off a building.

3. Deliberatley getting someone to beat him up, saying "yeah, yeah, here i come" as he's hit. IIRC, this was from the Maude Flanders death show.
