Question/Not Trolling/But Curious

First, I lurk so I know what the group's about. I'm also a Elementary teacher, taught all grades, K-5th, and many times, I know exactly where you guys are coming from,there's been more than once that I wanted to strangle a few of them..

I guess I differ in the fact that, yes I actually do care for kids or that I wouldnt be teaching. Comes with the territory.

What I'm discovering more and more, it's IDIOT parents that are causing the most problems. I have been teaching for 10 years now, and have pretty much seen it all. Parents that wanted their little darling to become a gang banger at age 6. A 6 year old girl that literally could not take care of her own bathroom needs cause the parents never took the time to teach her. (basically what to do after she's done). The 6 year old that brought a airline bottle of Jack Daniels to school. Anway the list goes on, one my personal favorites is dealing with drunk/stoned out of their gourd parents.

And I dont know WTF is with this new age parenting, this so called "feel good/never hurt poor Timmy's feelings, try to REASON with the little #@@)@) Yea right, we are creating a whole generation of kids that have NO disicpline, no sense of work ethic, no respect and not being taught personal responsibility. I am sorry but this s#(% isnt working.

We also have a Generation that's been drugged out of their minds. ie: Ritalin. The sad part is that they are simply doing this because they dont want to deal with them or even attempt to raise them. OR even worse, treat them like decorations, trotted out for show, or run them into the ground because they are good at sports. You have no idea what it's like when an 8 year old tells me that she's sick of going to soccer, etc, and just wants to spend time with her parents. What many parents dont get is that all this shit, dance, soccer, etc, is just another excuse not to have to deal with them. In the meantime, this same 8 year old goes to bed around 10:30pm IF she gets her homework done.

You know what's even scarier? I was talking to a person from the Texas Workforce Commision, he gave me a DATE when the last Baby Boomer would retire, he then said at that point, it going to be a slow downward spiral because the people that were coming in, said the exact same thing that we teachers were saying, no respect, feel they are entitled to everything, cant take criticism, and have no work ethic. Hearing this from someone who is NOT in education, sent a chill down my spine.

Anyway, now that you know where I stand, my rant's over.

Now for my question to the group.

My rant aside. What do you have against say, a well behaved 9 year old out with her parents just to go eat or at a movie. One who dosent cause problems. I know there is a difference between a young human whose well behaved, (I try to treat my students as human beings, they at least deserve that) and Little Monsters.

So in your eyes, what's wrong with older, well behaved girl?

In the USA with all the perverts and kooks around, I wouldn't let a nine year old go anywhere alone.

My father used to be a teacher like you. He had a similar problem with another girl in his class grade 2 if I remember right. Parents were drunks and didn't want to take the time to do it. How often if you called a childs parents over their behaviour you got: "So deal with it."

Because my father used a belt with me I have chosen not to have kids. He is not worthy of being a grandfather. We still fight about it today. In scandanavia it's a chargable criminal offence! It's the norm. One reason why I think there is such a shortage of teachers in North America and Eurpoe. I saw almost the same thing when I was in my late teens.

Nothing, they are very rare anymore. You should look up the comments about that child who called 911 when his mother passed out. Even though we don't like kids we felt he did the right thing! Doesn't matter with if it's a boy or a girl. As well there are some places you don't take your kids. Some movies are one example. Two often parents regardless if their kids are well behaved or not, think they are the only ones who can tell their kids no. The mothers are especally famous for it. I had to call the police to get something done about her kids darting out in front of me. When I worked retail a woman complained to the fucken idot store manager over me asking her kids not to take the security stickers from the cash-regester.
