Reruns

I've noticed that I enjoy the Simpsons better in reruns. When first eps come on, my expectations tend to be too high, so I'm often disappointed. However, when re-viewed in reruns (often as time-filler, so without high expectations), I tend to enjoy them more --even the 'worst episodes ever'. As a bonus, I often catch lil' jokes that I missed the first time around. BTW, I've got really, really high hopes for the upcoming Canadian ep. The mere fact that they're making an episode featuring Toronto made in all of the major Canadian newspapers. (Yes, we Canadians are pathetic that way).

I agree. The only example I can think of right now is "The Wizard of Evergreen Terrace", but I know this has happened to me on many occasions.

It's the really bad ones that make me turn it off in syndication (Max Power, Homer becomes a Hippie)

Good point. What I should have said is that the Canadian media is pathetic, in thinking that this was newsworthy. Kinda like that scene from "The Mouse on the Moon", where a BBC announcer has a news addendum trumpeting the fact that an astronaut is wearing a British-made wristwatch. In the same way, our newspapers' nit-picking hunt for a 'Canadian Angle' on so many stories smack of a small-town mentality that, yes, makes us look pathetic IMHO.

But I could be wrong on that too --did the French or Australian media trumpet the Simpsons eps that dealt with their respective countries? Do Italian newspapers make a big deal whenever an American sitcom has a 'special episode' where the story takes the fill-in-the-blank dysfunctional family for a visit in Rome where said family discovers that 'family values ' are the be-all and end-all of happiness, morality and training-bra blues?

Well, my rant's over. Apologies to Canadophiles. And please blame Molson and McCains for whatever garbage opinions I've expressed today.
