DVD Problems

For the people out there and me, �if you have had any problems at all with your DVD, �please post it here. �I want to see it my DVD and others have the same problems.

I tried all 3 discs in two different units and 1 DVD-ROM drive. The problem with Disc 1 was only present in my older unit. "Homer's Night Out" played fine in the second unit and the DVD-ROM. "The Crepes of Wrath" showed some artifacting in the second unit and the DVD-ROM. Disc 3 did not work in any of the three players.

Did the disc freeze at Yeardley Smith's name? My copy does that during the credits for "Homer's Odyssey," but I was able to fast forward past it. It was the only problem I had with the set.

Yep, my copy does the same thing. Using a Toshiba SD-2109 player, if it makes any difference.

It freezes there for me, too. I'm also using a Toshiba, but I think it's an older model (SD-1600?). I recently had more severe problems playing Disney's Emporer's New Groove DVD. Disney say's they'll release a new version that will play on the Toshiba, but they didn't say when. I may have a new DVD player by then. :-)

Yup, right there. The time keeps going forward for a few seconds, loops back to where it was stuck, and then repeats the process.

Since a number of people have experienced this, I really am wondering if it is because of a layer switch there...

An improperly designed layer switch can cause problems like skipping, especially on older players, so it probably is the source of the problem. I was using a Pioneer DV-414 player when I encountered the problem.

Greetings, I can't help you there im afraid. I have my own disc probs. On disc 3, in the "Extra features" section, i press the "some Enchanted evening script" thingy. It then goes to Mrs Crabappel giving text instuctions on how to access these extra features. ie." heres how to navigate through the screens", telling you to press the >>� button. I press it but nothin happens ? Anyone have any ideas.

PS I am looking for Gilligans Island - mpg/avi/ whatever. can't find an episode anywhere. It hasn't been on TV in the UK for over 20 years. If someone could point me in the right direction i would be extremely greatfull.

That sounds like a very similar story to me... What type of player do you have???

A JVC XV-501 (got it in May '99). My emails and letters to JVC America concerning any sort of firmware upgrade have gone unanswered.

I'm kinda surprised I had no problems running every disc on my APEX AD-600A player.
