Simpsons on DVD

Hello. I was wondering if any more seasons except season 1 & 2 appeared on DVD, or are scheduled to do so? I checked out eBay.com for Simpson DVD's, but I only found Season 1 and Season 2 for sale over there.

Seasons 1 and 2 are all that are currently out. But they do plan to do all the seasons.

try the dvd news page at snpp.com for more direct stuff, but basically, the source of info that seasons 1 and 2 are the only ones out yet is that, well, they're the only ones you can buy. if you go looking for season 3 on amazon.com, it gives you a message about the title not being available *yet*. granted, it does that for a lot of things, like, say, the "back to the future" movies before there was an official release date for them.

probably... if they're doing the commentary for a season, i don't think they want to pick and choose which episodes they feel are the "lesser" ones, because no matter what they choose they'll piss someone off if they pick any to leave out. personally, i just hope they do a commentary for thoh v (or maybe vi, i forget) and explain the brazillian time-travel reference.

I hope they put a commentary on the entire 8th season and explain why it sucked so bad.

By the time it got to season 13, imagine how tired they'd be of apologising ;-)

Oops. I got this title confused with another episode. You Only Move Twice was alright.

the concept behind it was good, addressing the fact that Homer is completely inept and lazy yet has a large home, happy family, has been into outer space, and has few worries. Grimey introduced the opposite end of the scale in all respects - incredibly industrious, "the model employee", skilled, and educated, yet is miserable and overstressed. Grimes' crusade against Homer is well illustrated, and both the ending and the subplot are apt. Most of the criticisms i've read of this episode are either 1) Homer is characterised as too stupid, or 2) the ending is too "sick". The former is complete nonsense - as indeed are most whines about someone being off-character for an episode - due to the fact that there is no evidence Homer isn't that stupid. Remember that in the years preceding this episode, he had driven into a nuclear reactor pipe because he was looking the other way, fastened Maggie's diaper with a paper gun, sat on Maggie (more than once), lost Maggie, almost driven an RV containing his family off a cliff, bankrupted his brother's company, set his house on fire, almost caused a nuclear meltdown because of his lack of occupational knowledge, let nuclear waste drip from the ceiling into a bucket, wrote "OK" in a box marked "Do Not Write In This Space", yadda yadda yadda. And Homer was not deserving of Grimey's wrath either, in fact he was friendly to him throughout. As for the ending - both the actual death and the subsequent funeral - I suspect most people who criticize it are missing the point somewhat.

it had some potent and well realised shots at the "hardcore fans", plus a few good gags. actually this episode was only average now I think about it, despite its good points - Poochie was ridiculously uninteresting considering he was the center of the plot, and the show meandered off into nowhere in the final act of the episode...

story was wacky but stable, the guest stars were well used, however the main reason i like this episode is that it is just very very funny.....

It's not that Homer was portrayed as being too dumb, but that the rest of the plant employees seemed to find it so endearing all of a sudden (Lenny: "That's our Homer!") Also, the ending wasn't too sick, it's just that the Simpsons writers didn't really pull off this kind of humor very well. It's like they were trying to imitate an episode of John K's Ren and Stimpy (Stimpy does something really stupid, causing Ren to go psychotic), but didn't understand what made those cartoons so funny.

As you listed, Homer's incompetency at work is well documented. Accidents increased each year after he joined the company. I wish Grimey didn't have to die. Perhaps Burns could have fired him and said, "See, look at this young man whose name I don't know. [points to Homer] He's a hardworking employee." I love the ending where Grimes freaks out. ________________________________________________________________

Overall, this is the most unpleasant season of them all.

I didn't know that 1 second can kill a whole half hour episode (well almost a half hour)

nope....excellent episode. it's like a lot of classic simpsons episodes - a simple, almost trite story that goes much deeper than face value

i don't think the divorce itself was supposed to be funny. i'm sure you could have figured that out for yourself.

these weren't great, My Sister My Sitter was OK, the others were below average

see Milhouse Divided, and replace the word "divorce" with the word "alcoholism"

well i agree with these, not necessarily for the dumb reasons you listed, but nonetheless i agree they were overall not good episodes.

Evidently your simple mind was unable to understand my point. Season 8 was the most *unpleasant*. Seasons 9+, were overall just bad.

ohhhh-kayyyy.......my simple mind had presumed that a bad season would be unpleasant for the viewer and that a season which seemed unpleasant would have bad episodes. excuse my simple mind for this completely absurd thought
