STUFF for "Springfield Up" (JABF07) ----------------------------------- Written by Matt Warburton Directed by Chuck Sheetz Special Guest Voice: Eric Idle Also Starring: Tress MacNeille, Karl Wiedergott Blackboard: none Couch: none Overseas Animation: Akom TV Rating: TV-PG-V
REVIEW: B-plus - this was an A-minus...until the last two minutes, with the "Marge makes a speech and show the credits" ending. I was half-expecting the show to end with a scene "eight years from now" with either Homer or Desmond having loads of money thanks to taking credit for the condiment pen.
REFERENCES "7 Up", "14 Up", etc. (title; also, the show, like the movies, deals with people being shown at regular intervals in their lives) EABF11 (Desmond Declan) FABF22 (Marge the high school photographer)
DYN ...this is the first non-Halloween episode since 4F20 (in 1997) not to have a couch opening? ...young Homer said he was going to own a football team - which he did at one point? ...Springfield High School's mascot is a wildcat? ...Disco Stu was "created" in 1991, long after disco music "died"? ...Homer, Marge, Chief Wiggum, and Professor Frink are all 40?
GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT Professor Frink claims he never talked to a girl, but in 8F23, he has a wife and child.
Isn't Marge one year younger than Homer? According to the movie, both are 40.
In the show, Wiggum becomes chief thanks to massaging Mayor Quimby, but in DABF17, he claims he got it when his predecessor threw the badge away and he caught it.
The grandfather clock in which Smithers was tied did not have a pendulum.
