Fox Chicago

Okay, Fox Chicago shows syndicated Simpsons three times a day, every weekday. That's fifteen episodes a week. Now is it me, or is every damn episode either the one where Moe gets plastic surgery, or the one where Maude dies?

Fox New York does the same damn thing! We get two episodes a day and every episode here is either those two or the episode with The Who or anything mediocre from Seasons 10-12 repeated over and over and over... I want to see some classics!

I get a choice of three episodes a day: the Fox affiliate in Albany (which I can receive over-the-air) has one at 5pm; DirecTV has the Fox's NY affiliate, which of course has episodes at 6pm and 7pm. I can't remember the last time I saw anything earlier than Season 9.

And what's worse is that the DirecTV info is no longer showing which episodes the Fox NY affiliate will have. The info now only reads "Homer and Marge raise Bart, Lisa, and baby Maggie." There's a real specific preview of which episode will be on! :-)

You know what sucks, I pay $5.xx per month for the "Superstations" on Dish Network, which includes about 7 WB channels, and not one of them plays the simpsons. Ever. Well since Dish Network and DirecTV have no control over what the stations they broadcast show, probably nothing. Surely one of your local TV stations airs the Simpsons, so subscribe to your local channels on Dish Network or buy an antenna.

Actually, Dish and DirecTV haven't merged. It still needs to clear alot of hurdles. But I digress. DirecTV finally started carrying the station that shows The Simpsons in my area. (God bless the must-carry regulation) I can finally TiVo all the Simpsons episodes. :) :) Now if I could only get a Canadian satallite system... I'd be all hooked up. :)

The FCC just opened the "comment period" a couple of weeks ago. Everyone has to have their chance to say why they oppose or support the takeover and then the FCC gets to decide if they are going to allow it, yada yada. It will be awhile. Especially since Echostar is in a big dispute with Disney right now over trying to drop ABC Family and since Pat Robertson still has some interest in that channel all hell could break loose.

I also keep getting the Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger episode, Praiseland and that tennis episode on Fox New York.

We get 2 episodes per day here in Sacramento. It seems like they only have a pool of about 40 episodes that they pull from. So I see the same ones all the time. We used to get Homer vs. New York and the Krusty Canyonaro episode with Jay Leno a lot. I haven't seen the NY one on here since September, though.

I've been complaining about this for the longest time, because Fox 25 in Boston did this. I can't tell you how many times the episode where Marge went into the pretzel business aired within a three-month span. But over the past few months, Fox 25, which airs two episodes a day, has been mixing in some classics as well: "Radio Bart", "Homer Goes to College", and the episode where Burns gets Bart's blood have aired recently. So I won't complain too much.

And as I write this, Fox 25 in Boston is showing "Flaming Moe's."

You are always going to see more newer episodes on a station that has been airing syndicated episodes for a long time because they have already shown the older ones many, many times. They are only allowed to show each episode a certain number of times, so of course they are going to show more recent ones more because they have lots of runs left of those. This is also the reason a lot of stations have stopped showing a second episode. Luckily after my station dropped the second episode over a year ago they started mixing in a good amount of classic episodes.

Haha, I live in Chicago. They used to always play the Simpson gene episode, but I guess they've changed their "favorites."

Two eps a day here in South Carolina, on Christmas day they aired "Simpson's Roasting On An Open Fire" and have continued with the first season since.

It seems that Fox Chicago rotates the 5pm and 6pm seperately from the 10pm. For a while, the 10pm was a 3 day delay from 5pm and 6pm episodes. Anyway, I agree they rotate the same episodes *way* too much, as anyone with a Tivo can tell you. I was taping the episodes off Tivo for a three month period, and they repeated, in order, the same episodes every three weeks. Then they played almost the entire third season. There doesn't seem to be a real method to their madness, but I'm sure it makes sense to some program manager at Fox.

I wonder if at some point, Fox is planning to remove the earlier episodes (say, the first 100) from broadcast syndication and play them on cable? After all, there would still be plenty of episodes to play in broadcast syndication, and they could run the earlier ones on FX. Splitting the series into two syndication packages might be more profitable for them (it's been done on other series that have an especially large number of episodes).

I missed the first ten minutes, but it seemed that the school was surrounded by snow mounds so high, that nobody could get out. The students mounted a rebellion, and among other things, Principal Skinner was captured and tied up in the large sack that the gym normally uses to hold the dodge balls. Skinner's head was stinking out the top of the sack, and toward the end of the show, Nibbles, the school's hamster, comes rolling up in his hamster-ball. Skinner tells the hamster to "nibble open my ball sack"...to which, the hamster gives Skinner a "you flucking weirdo" look, jumps back in his hamster-ball, and rolls away. "Nibble open my ball sack." I can see how this would get through the sensors, but I couldn't believe my ear-bones.
