META-HUMOR ALERT

Abe and Jasper's cracks as Stantler and Waldorf seem to parallel the opinions that many long-time fans of the Simpsons currently have with the series (i.e. it has had a huge drop in quality).

The two snowmen chasing after Bart in the office, they reminded me of the snowman in some Scooby-Doo Christmas special that ran on Fox (or was it the WB?) where the kids have to deal with a living snowman (which of course is revealed to be not a real mystery).

That hardly classifies as a goof, they surely knew it couldn't happen but wanted that angle of having Marge go to war, and Homer at home. You might as well call Abe meeting Santa Claus in a previous flashback to WWII at Christmas a "goof".

That's hard to differentiate. The parody was of Statler and Waldorf, who were always heckling and criticizing The Muppet Show. So their making fun of The SImpsons doesn't even have to reflect what fans think.
