Fuck you. "Flesh Fair" is probably the most disturbing sequence in the entire film, but one of the most well-produced as well. The robot asking the other to turn off his "pain switch" or whatever it was gave me the creeps.
You watch alot of 'B' movies I take it?
The 'Moon craft' was supposed to be both a disguise an an intimidation.
No. You're obviously quite closed-minded and stubborn.
Yep.
He went over to the Comissary for a cappacino and a bear claw. It's just a short walk from the studio.
Teddy was the best part of the film.
So? He was tired.
You watch too much television.
So?
Kubrick "held it off" because he wanted to wait for the changing computer technology to give him a good enough film. You, however, could wait 2000 years and still be the same closed-minded dweeb.

Okay, wasted comment so this is going to be one of those fun messages.
No, that you're so dense.
Or, "Damn this is going to impress the most basic of lifeforms out there."
To each his own.
To make a point. Sorry if I went over your head with it. I assumed at least a 6th grade reading level.
Nice language. The acting in it was pitiful (Nice acting Dad and the ring leader was a complete joke) and virtually none of it was believable. And yes, the pain switch scene from the goofy robot was creepy.
Unfortunately, as a movie fan I've seen a lot of all types of movies.
Oh, yeah, be confused by a moon that has wires on it and rises 1000 times faster than the actual moon and makes a sound like a jet. I'd bet it could sneak right up on you while you were sleeping.
Uh huh....
Oh my, we agree on something!
A robot? Tired? Did you miss the entire beginning of the movie? Of course it sounds like you probably slept through it and woke up at the Flesh Fair scene so that would explain things.
Generational thing.
Yes, Cocoon, winner of 43 Academy Awards and studied in every film school in the country, in FantasyLand.
Nice reach. Haven't you even read his interviews on the subject? He said it was a story that would be nearly impossible to tell in film due to the complex nature of the storyline. So as far as being a close-minded dweeb, at least I'm a fact-based one. I happen to be one of the few that thinks "Eyes Wide Shut" is a masterpiece so don't give me crap about being close minded. Get a clue.
But you didn't reply to me or mention me in your original post. Therefore, your comments are null and void.
I love logic.
Except the stupider ones who just don't get it *wink* *wink* *nudge* *nudge*
What's in a name?
You shouldn't have.
You didn't.
You shouldn't. RSPW is full of stupid people.
English? Thanks. It's only spoken by 2/3rds of the Free World.
No, it wasn't.
Spielberg can't help it if you're stupid. That's your fault, not his.
Including your fair share of pornos, I'd bet.
It wasn't meant to scare *humans* dumbass, it was meant to scare *robots.*
Well, you are...
We do? Really? Are you so sure about that?
Batteries eventually wear down.
Actually I saw the entire film. Were you too busy picking kernels out of your teeth to watch what I was watching?
You're old. Huh huh, huh huh.
CoCoon is a good movie.
Hey dipshit, my source on that is Spielberg HIMSELF and the narration in the documentary "Stanley Kubrick: His Life In Pictures." Rent it sometime and see what I mean.
The sad fact of arguing with single-celled lifeforms is that they have no ability to realize when they're in over their own heads. <grin> They actually think their responses make sense to others. It's 50% of the reason I keep paying my Internet bill each month. The sheer entertainment value.
Maybe I should ease off on this kid. His whole life seems to center on movies, Southpark, Buffy and Pro Wrestling. No wonder the kid is confused. This is what happens when children have no role models or decent parenting. Pity. Real pity.
Ah, and that sums up your average internet troll. Lonely, misguided kids yearning for attention from strangers and feel they have to act like jackasses to get it. Very sad, yes. But hey, atleast it makes the rest of us feel better about ourselves!
Yes. He needs to win just *one* time. Thanks for this thread, guys. Now, I have no desire to see A.I. at all. 'Betcha ol' Alex hates every movie I've liked and liked every movie I've hated... ever. Just seems like that type. What did you think of "Leaving Las Vegas" Alex? What about "Gladiator"?
Well, I was 3/4 right. I thought you'd like "Leaving Las Vegas" more than "Gladiator", and I knew you'd hate "Gladiator". In all seriousness, I appreciate this OT post. Now, I'll go see something non-church-going people like myself tend to avoid... an uplifting movie (Pearl Harbor) instead of A.I.
Yeah, I know contributing this to a thread like this is all but completely pointless, but I don't care, I'll post it anyway: I saw A.I. the other day, and, for the most part, I enjoyed it.
Weren't you the fan of English just a bit ago? Learn it. It comes in handy communicating. Let me know when "kewl" breaks into Webster's.
Which is why you should have just kept your trap shut.
...and hope some day to be able to apply it instead of loving it from afar.
Okay, if that reply makes sense in your head, have fun with it....
I did it for the majority here who do have comprehension skills.
Facts seem to suggest otherwise.
Spoken like a true expert.
Bad acting and believable plots equate to IQ in your head? So noted. You're certainly an interesting case study. What species are you again?
I don't live in a box, so yes, I have seen pornos. I was 18 once.
Scare robots who have no emotions. Hehehehehe. Okay. This gets more interesting by the moment.
So your take is that his going to sleep was caused by his batteries wearing down? hahahahahahahaahahahah.
You'll come to realize that's a good thing when you get there.
I've seen it, and when it comes to A.I. and the story behind its long time in development, forgive me if I take my facts from the man who worked on it for 17 years and not the one who came in and worked on it at the tail end. And I saw Spielberg/Kubric piece and agree with Roger Ebert that I learned nothing new about Kubrick having seen it.
It's called slang, you big jackspoon brah. Look it up!
No. Because I love trolling you. You are an idiot.
That was supposed to be an insult...right?
It makes plenty of sense to me and many others. We can't help it if you are a clueless dork.
You shouldn't have. It *is* RSPW after all.
Your facts are wrong.
Been around RSPW long enough to know it in and out. You should check it out sometime---you're just a big enough moron to fit right in.
Thank yew!
Half-alien, half-human. Bit of a bitch, but at least my intelligence is higher than yours, as well as I have enhanced senses, such as those of hearing and smell.
We know what it's called, but the fact is, it makes you sound like the child you are.
Loving something and being any good at it, thankfully, are two entirely different things. You'd make a hell of a fisherman. You don't even come with a rod, let a long bait.
Yes, and quite a good one for those of us working beyond the Magic 8-ball response tactics you work from.
Keep telling yourself that if it helps kid.
Great understanding of the English language there.
Thanks! You're view of this, coming right out of FantasyLand, tells me everyone else here is quite normal.
A) You'd have a hard time convincing others here of that and b) is that sentence supposed to make sense?
Yes, quite dateless. That happens when you're married, having sex often and have children. Someday you'll catch on.
Thank you for making my point lemonhead. Let me fill in the blanks for you... Repeat after me, "Because it's a bad movie."
Wow. You'd be GREAT on television. Springer should sign you up now.
Funny. I seem to know more about it than you do.
Uh, when I say that, I'll let you know. The fact is that the story is a mess to convert to a feature length film. We have a full color example of that mess now to forever remind us of that and Kubrick said this time and time again. Just because Spielberg, who I believe is one of the greatest directors of all time, completed one, doesn't make it any less of a mess.
Yes, along with the most respected critic on the planet apparently. If my choice is to be in his company or yours, forgive me, but I think I'm happy right where I am kid.
If it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck and acts like a duck I call it a duck.
Yeah.... Don't think so newbie.
Pity no one agrees with you Alex.
Nice job of quoting. Shall I explain that concept to you too? Not very good at much of anything are you? The English language seems to escape you, quoting, common sense, decency.... pretty much a dry wasteland....
Go back and read it a few hundred times. Maybe you'll figure it out.
Ah, but we all know you do and therein lies the beauty of this whole thing.
Well, at least you tried.
Spoken like a true neophyte. Evolution is a wondrous thing Alex. If Darwin hasn't already targeted you then perhaps you will benefit from it some day.
Shaking it again I see.
Nothing you'd comprehend. It was more than a few words in length so I can see why this would tax your system to the point of complete loss of consciousness.
There's that quoting problem again. Hmm, must be indicative of your species. So noted.
You don't seem to see the obvious when it's right in front of you. And I doubt you will once again. I wonder if I even spell it out for you if you'd get it.... Maybe later.
