Tonight's airing of 4F22 Homer vs. NYC has been cancelled...............

It would appear, according to the Radio Times website, that tonight's BBC2 airing of 4F22 The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson has been cancelled, in favour of 5F11 Das Bus. (DigiGuide still says 4F22, but it has been known to be unreliable.)

I am thinking of complaining to the BBC about the schedule change (and also perhaps generally about the scheduling of the Simpsons), but only if there is sufficient support on these newsgroups.

If there is a massive amount of support, then I might set up a petition at www.petitiononline.com... I don't know...

I think it's more disrespectful to pretend that the buildings didn't exist ,are we trying to get rid of any images of the buildings? When will any amount of time have passed when it will be deemed appropriate to show the WTC?

I have noticed that Kerrang TV had started showing Limp Bizkits (sp) "Rollin'" video which has the band atop the WTC.

The BBC showed a really bad replacement episode (IMO) as well!

There's no problem with showing the twin towers by themselves. But the light-hearted, comical way they are depicted in this episode is insensitive and downright offensive to those who were there or those who lost family/friends. Remember, that site is now the final resting place for over 1,000 people whose bodies will never be found.

I too was in the area that morning and lost many friends who worked in the towers and some of the buildings in the surrounding area. I do understand the way you feel; however, I do not share these feelings.

Quite simply- and not in any way to belittle your feelings and opinions- but I feel they should continue to play that episode in its entirety.

Just my opinion.

ps - i may have missed it if it did, but has anyone in the NYC area seen this episode in syndication? this was the reason i mentioned it in a earlier post. of course, fox 5 might have more of a case to not show it in the NYC area over other fox affiliates in other areas ... still, i think it should be shown.

I live in NYC and was 2 blocks from the WTC when the 2nd plane hit and I'm lucky to be alive. I have no problems with the episode. It was actually aired a couple of weeks ago and I was glad to see it. What makes you think that that's a minority opinion?

I agree with the previous post.

Several months after September 11th, my friend and I saw this certain episode (this was his first time seeing the episode, I've seen it a few times before that) and he said right when the credits where fading to black that was his favorite episode so far, he just started watching just about every episode on syndication and on Sundays thanks to me.

People that live in New York can't possibly say that everything is perfect in New York! This episode was VERY well written in my opinion. Marge, Bart, and Lisa (Maggie too but not as enthusiastically as the other three) saw the great things about New York. They saw Broadway, various stores, and what tourists see and enjoy. Homer on the other hand saw the opposite of New York. He saw rude people, dirty streets, inconvenient things (having to go all those floors on two huge buildings just to go to the bathroom, etc.) and the last scene where Marge, Lisa, and Bart are looking at the landscape and wondering when they will visit the 'magical' place of New York, and Homer getting a faceful of trash saying 'We'll see.'

I hope I have contributed well to ats and have explained well how the whole episode is just a big explanation of New York, nothing evil or rude, just a big wave from the Simpsons saying 'We haven't forgotten you New York!'

Where are the Brazilians complaining about the newest controversial episode? That would probably be more interesting :)
