The Blah, the Meh, and the Drugly

I am totally underwhelmed. This is an eminently forgettable episode, but at least it's not outright insulting or stupid. On the other hand, it's not funny, either. Not one bit.

Bart's story is one we've seen, what, a dozen times before? Do they use the same voice actress for every one of Bart's girlfriends? And is anyone else wigged out by the fact that Bart's voice is a girl falling in love with a girl? "She had more curves than a Hot Wheels track" spoken by Nancy Cartwright. Ewww. Plus...kids dating, holding hands and "my darling", in 5th grade? That's just wrong.

Although I generally despise Lisa and any episode that focuses on her, her part of this episode was actually the more enjoyable part...mainly because her normal characterization was quickly shuffled away. And also because of the cool Smiley Face animation, particularly where the Smiley Faces replaced liquids, such as Barney's vomit and Wiggum's blood.

Assorted observations, wonderments and musings:

I find the new HD flat and lifeless. Looks like paint-by-number. Also, they've changed the broadcast ratio so now every week the left side of Bart's chalkboard is cut off on my TV screen. Bastids!

The third "N" next to Sleeping Willy is actually a broken "M" from "Elementary".

Why does Nelson hand-spell "haw haw"?

Why does Homer put his pants on the roof of the car when he takes his nap? Everyone knows the accepted practice is to put it on the shelf under the rear window.

In summation: meh.

Well, technically speaking, I think "douche bag" is two words. However, in your post, an ellipsis is three periods, not two, you get points off for the unnecessary comma, and "could've" is a non-standard contraction that should have been rendered as "could have".
