Karl is savvy enough to find a new job pretty much wherever he wants. Heck, if I were a business owner, I'd hire him if he was available. Wouldn't you?

He had enough sensitivity to know that Homer just isn't quite so resourceful and needed his help one more time. Karl just has a big heart.
