don't respond do this with a wizard did it...

In The Way We Was, Homer graduated high school in 1974. However, five years earlier in 1969 he attended Woodstock. D'ohin in the Wind was on Syndication today and during Woodstock he looks around six or seven, maybe eight. Regardless, he's not nearly the thirteen or fourteen years he should be.

Strange huh.

I think I'll answer my own question. My roommate explained this and it makes sense...

Basically, every year the Simpsons don't age. So each character's birthdate changes each year. So during Season 10, when D'ohin in the Wind came out, Homer was younger in 1969 than he was in Season 4, precisely 6 years younger. So I guess it works out although I didn't compute it. That explains his 1974 graduation from high school and many other Simpsons time flaws. Oh, and also I have conclusively figured out that when there is still a conflict despite the above, a wizard did it.

Didja notice in that Xfiles episode, only 3 guys were carrying around an entire killer whale? And that they only had 4 fingers? Or that Burns was glowing green? And had his spine bent in an impossible direction?

I hope that at least one person got fired for each of those blunders. [/sarcasm]

Seriously, I don't understand why anyone still asks about continuity issues. The show has long abandoned any pretense at serious continuity, and after making a number of explicit jokes at the lack of continuity....why even bother analyzing it?

Being a completely fictional animated comedy affords them certain freedoms in this respect.....
