DYN from tonight's episode that, according to his driver's license, grampa is 180 pounds? also, his driver's license number is S6890145. in an abstract algebra course in college we (briefly) studied encryption in driver's license numbers (actually really interesting) made semi-famous by a prof. gallian who cracked all 50 states' codes and was able to go backwards from your driver's license number and get your name, DOB, sex, state in which the license was issued, etc. so those of you who care enough or still believe springfield is in a real state, you could find the algorithm for going backwards with the above number and all your questions will be answered........ course, it's most likely not a valid driver's license number.

Never mind all that crap. If you freeze the close up of the license, it almost looks like the state of issue was SD (South Dakota). Then Lisa says that Branson is 1000 miles away (just before the bus pulls up). I ran directions from Springfield, SD to Branson, MO through Mapquest, but the distance is only 586 miles.

Of course, with the 1000 mile distance, you can always try to figure out if there is a Springfield within that radius.

yeah, it did kinda look like SD. but it also looked like CO to me. and then it looked like two symbols they intentionally drew ambiguous so we'd speculate like we're doing right now.

I was fairly certain that in the episode where Homer joins the Naval Reserve, a map shows Springfield Harbor as being on the coast of the Pacific Ocean, relatively south. It looked to me like it was somewhere near San Diego.

As a result, that license doesn't necessarily tell us his weight.
