It seems to be a running gag on the show that when anything crashes, it explodes, regardless of what it is made of/contains!
How many such occurrences can you think of?
To start things off : I can remember a pram, and the contents of a milk lorry.

And when Homer makes corn flakes.

A corn truck falls into a huge pothole and creates a gigantic explosion... as well as fills the hole with popcorn.
Marge's Canyonero rolls over and immediately catches fire.
The canyonero referred to the tendency of large SUVs like it to catch fire at random ("unexplained fires are a matter for the courts!"), so I wouldn't count it.

I thought of another one : the poisoned chocolate eclair in the episode where Homer became a food critic. When he throws it away because Lisa says its low fat, it blows up Moleman's stall.
The baby carriage exploding and catching fire when Homer's a ghost.
The baby carriage that rolls into the street ( THOH XI, I think) flips over and catches fire.

Cars are flammable.
The earliest one I can remember is in "Team Homer" when the students throw Krabappel's desk over on it's side and it catches fire.

Wasn't there an Amish horse and buggy?
You might be thinking of Family Guy when Meg is taking her road test and she runs an Amish guy off the road because she was trying to race him. The horse then exploded into a ball of flames.

Marge ran Moleman off the road in the Canyonero. I thought that the Gremlin catching fire was a joke about the law suit from years ago about cars with defects that caused them to explode in certain accidents.
The manufacturers knew about the defect but chose not to recall because it would cost more to recall than it would to pay out the people who sued.
I'm going off on a pretty big tangent here, but you get the point.

Then the sleazy bastards got hit with punitive damages, I glad to say! IMO they were lucky not to go to jail for negligent manslaughter!

A popular bumper sticker in that era was "Attention tailgaters: You hit me and we go up together!"

It can be two things.

Pram? Lorry? You're making those words up... Perhaps any object that is called something else in Britain is flammable. Look for an elevator/lift to go up in flames next week -- or an aubergine/eggplant.

This was the camping episode with Earnest Borgnine, right?
Dr Hibbert
Yes
My bad, thought it was Dr. Nick performing a street-side appendectomy.
"Jason Saslow" wrote in message news:[email]...
I have doubts as to whether Dr. Nick even knows what an appendectomy is.
Me too, which is why that scene would have been even more impressive. Remember, there was a cheering crowd when he threw it clear and it exploded.
