Between that and the snake handler thing, there was a surprising amount of continuity with Moe's past.

I thought it was a good episode overall. Moe's romance was touching and Homer's encouragement at the end was particularly sweet. It's been a while since the show has worked on that emotional level. It didn't bring the big laughs, and the Maggie subplot wasn't much (which is disappointing, because usually when they've focused on her it's worked well), but I still enjoyed it.
