Yes he did. Unlike the boneheaded "boner" gag, this one was funny.
I guess maybe the writers subcontracted Beavis and Butthead for that other joke.

The punchline of the boner joke, was not the ripping sound, it was the self-aware 'Feh' and the shrug of shoulders of the 'mummy.' It satirizes the gross-out humor in so many teen movies nowadays.
Although a joke is no longer funny when explained, I found it funny the first time. And not because of my juvenile sense of humor...

Although this episode was better than the average Scully-era episode, the vulgarity that has plagued the show since season 10 still brought the episode down a bit. Al Jean seems to be fixing some of Scully's problems, but the tendency to use uncharacteristically Family Guy/South Park-like jokes needs to go as well.
Oh well, at least there haven't been any references to passing gas.
