When Homer goes to the Guiness Book of World Records office, he tells a joke about denver or spanish omelets, and then plays a cornpone riff on a banjo with a cobra.

Does anyone remember the joke??

The answer is below. But, "nospamfatounds"' irreverent reply is the 10,000,000th successful attempt at being in character for a regular wise guy in this ng. So I am going to send an email to the Guiness people immediately. The Guiness Book of World Records people, not the Guinness Stout people.

According to http://www.snpp.com/episodes/DABF03, the definitive, last word on how fat, I mean "stout", Marlon Brando was,

% Homer meets the people who certify new records.

Homer: I'm here to break a world's record. What's the
longest anyone's ever done this? [jumps around,
		making goofy faces and noises]
Record Lady:	Three years.
Homer: Fine. I'll just play the banjo with this cobra.
[begins doing so, then hits a wrong note] Wait,
		wait, wait!
Record Man:	[interrupting] Uh, technically the cobra would get
the record. He's the one playing.
Homer: But it's my banjo!
Record Lady:	Mr. Simpson, there are thousands of people like you
		with no discernable talent.
Homer: Yeah, they're called Congress. [laughs]
Record Lady:	Shut up.
Homer: Okay.
Record Man:	All the original records were set by crackpots who
half-killed themselves. The only way someone new
can get in the book is with some kind of group
		stunt.
Homer: Group stunt?
Record Lady:	Like the town that made the world's largest omelet.
Homer: Denver?
Record Lady:	No, Spanish.
[ba-dum-bum! Homer plays a banjo flourish]

So is the joke the "Congress" joke or the "omelet" joke?

I rather you sent it to the Guinness Stout people.

Normally I am supposed to tease you and not answer your question. The way that "nosamfat" did. He was behaving in character. I was not. The teasing would include:

"Yes, I know that joke." "Have you tried the Internet?" ("Is that thing still around?", "I hear they have it on computers", ...) "What song did Lisa play", ... "Did you know Smithers was black, and one time he was gay?" Some joke about Marlon Brando's girth, as he was in the episode in question and Homer made a comment about his girth in said episode. These type of obscure comments are good because if you know your OFF you will understand the joke.

And so on. We should really call this ng alt.smart-ass-dry-humor-and- sarcasm.

www.snpp.com is the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Using the Internet. And it will answer all your questions. About the Simpsons. And Marlon Brando's girth.
