When Bart is listing his heroes, Homer is upset because he isn't on the list. However, Poochie, a character Homer played, is on the list, so Homer should be somewhat happy.

But Bart hated Poochie, remember?

i wondered that too. or maybe he said it cause firefighters have always been heroes and always will be. or maybe it was a specific homage to 9/11. don't know. good question, we'll check into that!

My vote would be that it was a specific and blatent homage to 9/11. what show hasn't friggin laid down their patriotism yet?
