Family Guy better!

I used to detest Family Guy but I've noticed the quality of the writing has improved considerably the last few episodes. Lately it's been better than some OFF stinkers. The "Road to Rhode Island" episode was great...a homage to the old Crosby/Hope movie serials and some clever little bits thrown in all over the place. Definitely on the raunchy side for most folks though. The episode where Peter goes to the KISS reunion show was also very good.

All reruns.

Road to Rhode Island was season 2, so it was only new in 2000. Actually, for the last few weeks they ran almost nothing but season 2 episodes (with a few season 3 reruns in there) - it made me wonder why they couldn't find time to run the only episode of The Tick that hadn't aired yet (they made 9 and aired 8).

Btw, if you didn't see it the first time it aired, you missed out on a scene: when they get to the airport, Stewie walks through security and the guy tells him that they have to put his bags on the belt. Since he has all manner of weapons inside, he distracts the x-ray person by singing "on the good ship lollipop." Then as he puts his backpack back on, he says he hopes Osama bin Laden doesn't know any showtunes...then you see Osama singing "God, I hope I get it...I hope I get it!" (i forget the actual name of the song). That was all cut out, probably because they didn't want people thinking they added that scene specifically because of 9/11 (though the episode was written, produced, and aired a year and a half beforehand, not everyone would know that).

On the other hand, one rerun did have an extra scene...the first time "Brian in Love" ran, they just went straight to the titles, but when they reran it a few months ago there was an extra scene with Mr. Rogers and Stewie in some sort of battle. Glad I caught that on tape.
