DYN... ...Lisa seems to be the only one happy to go see Springfield Glacier (even Martin looks tired)? ...Springfield Glacier is a five hour drive away, yet they still call it Springfield Glacier? ...If they leave at 3:00 am, they would arrive at about 8:00 am, suggesting that Skinner made everyone leave so early so that they could get to the glacier at around the same time that school would normally start? ...Skinner himself is not wearing "glacier appropriate clothing," despite his comment (However, Ms. Krabappel is wearing glacier appropriate clothing)? ...multiple grades are going on the field trip? ...Lisa's teacher, Ms. Hoover, does not come on the field trip? ...Skinner refers to himself as "the Skin-man"? ...The Sprawl-Mart customer walking repeatedly into the wall resembles Larry Burns (with lighter hair)? ...Homer looks angry as he dons Grampa's Sprawl-Mart uniform? ...Homer still wears the "Abe" name tag as he greets Sprawl-Mart patrons? ...Ms. Krabappel is looking to see how Skinner reacts as she makes out with Park Ranger Johnson? ...Janey and another boy admiring a piece of the glacier (or ice) before Lisa delivers her glacier speech? ...even Park Ranger Johnson laughs at Bart's comment that the "frog has a nerd on its butt"? ...Gary Busey's helmet has "Gary Busey" written on it? ...The corpse of the woman who Joe Spaghettio presumably took out of the coffin leaning against the wall? ...Homer's Spanish improved from when he greeted the Bumblebee man ("Buenas nochos") to when he saw his Mexican passport ("Dios mio!") ...Homer apparently worked at an all-night diner for three years? ...the squeaky-voiced teen appears as both a customer and employee at Sprawl-Mart? ...Bart wears an orange and brown striped tie on his head in the wild?
Goofs - The shopping cart changes directions (the handle is on the other side) as Grampa flies towards and hits the gnomes. - Gary Busey changes outfits after his video within the video starts (from the jacket to a blue suit) - Dr. Hibbert is looking for a vein in the _top_ of Bart's arm (then again, maybe that was a joke about his incompetence) - OFF's backyard expands infinitely into the wilderness; there is usually a fence (and a house behind it, as shown in this episode's couch gag) - As Marge looks through the "Bart-Noculars," she sees Bart playing in the wilderness, yet as she begins to recount the good things Bart has done for Lisa, you can clearly see through the kitchen window that the backyard has changed to have a fence with a house behind it - Lisa still uses the 20 foot poke-pole even after the restraining order had been increased to 200 feet (61 meters)
Review This episode began with a classic and funny Simpsons field trip, but after the first act, it began to lose some steam. Lisa seemed kind of like a jerk in this episode for little reason. I actually began to feel sorry for Bart after a while. Lisa's hostility was out of character and her anger seemed to be forced just so the episode could keep going (Bart has done plenty of nice things for Lisa). Homer's Sprawl-Mart job was a funny, if somewhat pointless, B story with a few good gags (notably "Homer Sanchez"). The Gary Busey video was kind of weird, although I'm not entirely familiar with his work. The ending also seemed rushed, with Bart not really doing something nice and Lisa barely admitting she had been "a pill." This episode seemed like an answer to "My Sister, My Sitter," (4F13) where Bart was a complete jerk; this time, it was Lisa's turn. Grade: B
