Siegfried & Roy - Life imitates OFF

Who wants to bet against me on this one: I say that when the 5th season DVD comes out, the scene in $pringfield where the tiger attacks the Siegfried & Roy character will not be included. Bet they also pull that scene from syndication.

I bet the scene will be on the DVD, with an obvious footnote in the booklet and/or commentary about the episode being done years and years before the real incident and that it is there because they wanted to present the episodes uncut.

I do agree that the scene will eventually be excised from the syndicated version (if it hasn't been done already.)

Similarly, when they get around to Season Nine, I would object strongly if they decided to leave out "The City of New York vs. Homer Simpson." (However, if they decided to leave out "The Principal and the Pauper" I probably wouldn't object as much.)

Exactly. Also, Roy Horn is far from the first animal handler to be attacked during a performance, just the most famous.

Also, the scene in question doesn't strike me as a parody, but more of a "hey, don't you people in the audience really want to see this happen? Come on, admit it." Kind of like people wanting to see car wrecks at a racetrack. It's that element of danger that helps bring people to such shows anyway.

They won't cut it from the DVDs. Probably not even syndication. Not long after September 11, 2001, I saw the scene in which a helicopter crashes into a sky blue building painted by the Stonecutters.

That's not just "a building", it's the building that houses Mad Magazine.

You can take that two ways. Either it's not a loss, because it takes out Mad Magazine, or it's a most serious loss, because it takes out a very sacred institution.
