Simpsons: The lost episodes

Lately they've been showing a lot of episodes in Mass. that I haven't seen in a long time. I regretfully never taped any of the old episodes since I religiously watch them almost every time they're on. It's been so long since seeing some of these that is't almost lke seeing them for the first time. Tonight, Abe's girlfriend died while he was at the discount lion safari. Something I never noticed before...Abe's Middle Initial is also J. Has his middle name ever been disclosed? I don't remember ever hearing it. Maybe Scully could get some washed-up hippie loser guests to come on and help him find out what it is.

Scully isn't executive producer anymore. It's been Al Jean for two years already.

It's possible. He wouldn't be executive producer, though; they only assign that every few years, and Al Jean's recent tenure has given the show a significant boost in popularity-- it's doing better in the Neilsens than it has been in years. However, Scully could easily return as a lesser producer. He's also involved in Everybody Loves Raymond in some respect (he's listed in the Emmy nominations), as is Jennifer Crittenden, who I believe also still holds some credit on The Simpsons. The Simpsons, and any show, really, uses any number of producers, co-producers, etc., to say nothing of writers. And this can change by the episode, fitting with producers' schedules. (Didn't Scully pen an episode or two this year? I could have sworn I saw his name somewhere in "Dude, Where's My Ranch?") Remember that even Al Jean had all but left (remained on as 'creative consultant' or some such) for a few years way back when to do "The Critic," among other short-lived things. The show is just a revolving door, like the one featured in Sideshow Bob's election commercial.

Abe's middle name has never been given - it could be just about anything (yessss!) - and what washed-up hippie losers are you referring to? Only George Carlin and Martin Mull guest-starred in that ep, so maybe you're thinking of someone else...
