GOOFS / FREEZE FRAME / WHATNOT This was the "300th Episode" - more specifically, the "300th Episode Produced that aired for the first time since the series started in January, 1990" (so the first Christmas Special isn't counted). All other counts (100th, 138th, 200th) were based on the number of new episodes aired, including the Christmas Special, which would make this episode the 302nd.
When Homer says his "You're mine until you're 18" rant, his lips don't match what he says. (It's possible that the change had something to do with another possible change; originally, wasn't Homer supposed to spend Bart's commercial money on naming a star which went supernova?)
The obstacles on the half-pipe appear only when Homer has to go around/over them.

REVIEW: B-minus - the "Ribwich" subplot had its moments, but the entire "Lisa's spelling" storyline was flat and pretty much predictable (face it, the minute Lisa "exposed" the Spellympics, did anyone expect her to spell the word correctly)...and will somebody explain that "mountain carving of Lisa" ending?
DYNs ...this is the second time two episodes have premiered on the same night (the first being "Homerpalooza" and "Summer of 4 Foot 2" in 1996? ...Ray Romano sounds like Barney? ...this is the second "first day of school" episode? (Then again, they never do say what grades everybody are in) ...none of the fifth (or older) grade students are as good at spelling as Lisa or Milhouse? ...Barney is drunk again? ...Sun Moon didn't ask for a definition of "whether / weather"? ...everybody seems to have forgotten that the Isotopes won a championship?

The "knockoff of the Olympic anthem" sounds nothing like the Olympic anthem, but rather like the 1984 Olympic theme.
