Notes for KABF06 (The Debarted)

I liked this episode. I haven't seen The Departed, but I know what it's generally about, which explains that plot (and the constant Irish rock). So maybe it's not very original if the movie is considered, but it seemed fresh enough for the series. (I also enjoyed the thwarted pranks montage in particular.) Homer's loaner car thing was fun enough. On the other hand, one thing that we didn't really need (and usually don't, perhaps other than a SSB episode) is Bart's "blue vine" flashback. It's more obvious than Ralph claims the rats to be. Finally, who's been giving Lunchlady Doris lines these last few years, especially in Standard Tress Voice??

Goofs Assuming the magnets were strong enough and so on, I still don't think Bart would be strong enough to move Skinner's whole body around (perhaps he could make the feet slip, but not after that). By the way, did anyone else think those were pieces of glass instead of metal plates at first?

Unless Martin is using horrible technique and some sort of *magical* materials, the photos in the darkroom should not blacken like that. (Once the prints are developed and fixed, additional light will not affect them; they're rinsed in water to remove those chemicals and then hung up to dry.)

Catch The Simpsons at a special time! 8:27, that is, on the east coast. Bloody cars. (The new King of the Hill at 8:30 - er, 8:57 - is running, but Don might like to note that at least in Cleveland, the beginning of it was plagued for a short time with blackouts and snippets of an Obama commercial, I guess because of the time confusion.)

Didn't I used to see a cartoon where a mouse uses a magnet to set-up a cat for a fight?

If the photos have been developed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_developer but not fixed http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Photographic_fixer then the silver halides would continue to darken, borders and all. By the way, some photographers used to use acetic acid (found in vinegar) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stop_bath to stop development by neutralizing the alkaline developer.

It seemed pretty familiar.

Though, I think it was well done. I had no idea what Bart was putting in the shoes, and when we first see Skinner moving around, I'm thinking "but putting something in the shoes won't make him slide around like that". It looked like his shoes had suddenly become highly slippery. It was only when Bart was revealed that it made sense.

I thought this was a fairly good episode, although I thought the end was a mess. I really didn't think the ending was well-thought-out at all. There wasn't really any reason to have Skinner and Willie show up in the shack. Evverything was spot-on up to that point, though.
