Pray For Mojo

Watching A Tale of Two Springfields on Sunday, I was laughing at the scene where the town is watching the phone company's promotional movie and Homer tries to ask the narrator of the film, Phoney McRingRing, a question. It occurred to me that there have been many instances of Homer talking to inanimate objects. What's your favorite?

Here's a bonus question: Have there been any instances of Homer talking to an inanimate object and the object responding?

Dave

Homer: I have a question. Lisa: That's a movie, Dad. Homer: Quiet honey, Daddy's trying to ask the man a question.

You skipped a few lines:

Man: You're stealing my manhood. Woman: That's petty larceny. Second Man: Don't go there!

Was that in the same episode where Bart was going to take a bowling ball to the TV because of the crap it was showing?

Ted S.: change .spam to .net to reply by e-mail Marge Simpson: Are you really going to ignore Grampa for the rest of your life? Homer: Of course not. Just for the rest of *his* life.

He talks to the TV, SLH and a parrot. He talks to the trampoline (in 1F05, syndication cut...) "Check MATE, trampoline! ...some day you'll RUST!!!!!"

This is an "unexpected" response rather than an inanimate object responding, but it sort of fits in- in "El Viaje de..." Homer is trying to figure out why he saw particular objects in his insanity pepper dream. The desert is the sand trap, the ziggurat is the pro shop, and the talking coyote was just a talking dog.

"Hiya Homer! Find your soul mate!"

"Waaaaitaminute... dogs don't talk!"

*BARK!*

"Damn straight!"

He talks to Ganesha at the Kwik-e-Mart.

"Hey, Ganesha, wanna peanut?" "Please do not offer my god a peanut." "No offense, Apu, but when they were handing out religions, you must have been out taking a whiz." ________________________________________________________________

Can't remember much about it, but wasn't there a scene where Homer gets hold of an automatic dialer that Frink tries to get back via remote control? I think that kind of fits this category.

Taken from www.snpp.com:

Homer: [slams the door] Why do you mock me, O Lord?
Marge: Homer, that's not God. That's just a waffle that Bart tossed
up
       there.
[Marge scrapes it off into Homer's hands]
Homer: I know I shouldn't eat thee, but -- [bites] Mmm, sacrilicious.

I know Homer and company sometimes dreams of food talking to them like cooked pig and turkey. He also imagined of a penny humming and winking once.

Also, Homer talks to his brain a few times. Is that inanimate enough? I think his stomach has talked a few times too.

Homer:	[walks in carrying groceries] I've got groceries.
[puts bags down on the dining room table]
Lisa:	[taking things out of the bags] Maple soda? A cell phone
	full of candy? Astronaut bread?
Homer:	It's the bread of astronauts.
Bart:	[looking at a box of "Sweet Emotions" cereal] I didn't
	know Aerosmith made a cereal.
Lisa:	Dad, I gave you a list.
Homer:	Oh, yeah. [reads list and laughs] You were way off.
Lisa:	[growls in frustration]
Homer:	[on candy-cell phone] Hello, Lollipop Island? There's a
little girl here who had too many sour balls.
Lisa:	[growls and stalks off]
Homer:	Anyway, where were we? Hello? Hello? They hung up.

oh, homer and his warped world...heheh.

"Bad, Bad, Man". Homer hugs the television. "Now, let us never fight again."

"Trilogy of Errors." Homer laments his severed thumb. "We always knew this would happen."

Yes, if this counts..."Trilogy of Errors", where Homer says to Linguo, "Me Want Beer", to which the robot responds, "*I* want beer." Later on, where Homer says, "Linguo...dead?" "Linguo *is* dead."

Peace, Vince Yim
