It's just a textbook "switcheroo" joke. The setup: Crab Juice. We think Homer is disgusted by the idea of "Crab Juice". Surprise, he's disgusted by the Mt. Dew. It's also a nice random shot at Mt. Dew (if you're an iconoclast, you have to take shots at something :-)
These "random shot" slams are prevalent in Bloom County esp. (re: Jokes about Dan Rather, Phyllis Schlafly, etc...) and they're one of my favorite aspects of the best Simpsons episodes.
