That episode about Mr. Burns owning the press was the worst one yet. Ever since Lisa went from a niavee liberal child to a righteous do-gooder who's never wrong, the show seemed to be on a downward spiral. Was there anything funny about Lisa in that episode? Anything at all? Who is writing these episodes now, Ted Rall? Maybe they'll make fun of Tillman's death next. Bring back Conan! I remember the episode a while back where Lisa took the wrong bus and was lost, then she looks up at a flock of birds and determines which way is north from this, only to see another flock flying in opposite directing and start fighting,lol. They need to kill off Lisa like Flander's wife and the show would be better. I could care less what kind of political viewpoint they want me to learn, I'd rather see a comedy. All In the Family worked because they made fun of both sides (Meathead and Archie).

They DO make fun of both sides. Maybe they make fun of conservatives more. But they do make fun of liberals too. Like Mayor Quimby. Actually the Simpsons is still pretty traditionalist Christian. How many other shows show townspeople and family going to church on Sunday? Not many. Lisa has been an activist for YEARS and YEARS. The Simpsons has had a liberal bias for YEARS and YEARS too. This is nothing new.

Hey, I'm just glad to see conservatives are watching the Simpsons. My theory is that most conservatives started out watching the Simpsons when they were younger and unaware of their convervo tendencies. As they get intouch with their conservative side (onset of old age), they start to learn that most of the jokes are on them. Surprisingly, the Simpsons aren't funny anymore. Out of habit or some other form of pavlovian response, they still tune in to the shows; but, in order purge themselves they go out to newsgroups and talk about how unfunny the shows continue to get.

Do you realize that singularly Conan O'Brien only wrote three episodes over 10 years ago? Three episodes isn't even 1% of the show's run. I like everything he wrote, but Homer Goes to College was not well received by many fans at the time. If you're going to ask for an old writer (or writers) to return, ask or someone a bit more prolific.
The Simpsons has been offering politcal views since it's inception. Look back at the early seasons. You'll see plenty of political issues being discussed and lampooned. If you don't want politics in The Simpsons, you don't want The Simpsons.
The Simpsons commonly takes on both sides. While they clearly were poking fun at the Republicans with the "Vote Republican" line, they were clearly poking fun at Democrats as well. Did you see that the non-Republican was an overly liberal hippie? You could even argue that Burns disliking the media's portrayal of him is a jab at the so-called liberal media. We've known that Burns was a Republican for years. I don't see anything anti-Republican with having a Republican saying, "Vote Republican."
I will concede that The Simpsons is more liberal than conservative, but each side gets jokes at their expense.

I've always seen that gag as a spoof on the "Republicans are evil" concept. It was an example of liberals with a sense of humor seeing the ridiculous in the shrill attitudes of liberals who lack a sense of humor. It didn't really parody anything about Republicans themselves; or about conservative ideas.
