Well, J. Stewart Burns hits a third consecutive home run with this one, and it was still easily his weakest effort. The satire was excellent, with a delicate and hilarious handling of both sides of a touchy subject. Much like in "The Cartridge Family", they were able to give the conservative side some credit, in this case by exemplifying one of the main arguments of the right wing by having Homer marry everything, but they still managed to rib them excellently (Lovejoy drowning out Marge's argument with the bells was great). Also, there was some great control exercised by the staff in not including Smithers or Ned, the easy targets for both side. Patty's plight and Marge's conflict were interesting, though if I did have to make a change, I would have introduced Patty to the plot earlier so that her decision to come out to Marge, and her reaction could have been less rushed and more developed. Still, there were plenty of great gags (with Disco Stu, the commercial, and Bart and Lisa's meta-ref at the end all shining) and the ending was great, leaving this one with a 9.5/10. (A)
There's Something About Mary is a comedy starring Cameron Diaz, Ben Stiller and Matt Dillon. In it, Ted Stroehmann, played by Stiller, hires a private detective (Dillon), to track down Mary Jensen, his high school prom date, with whom he is still very much in love. However, when the detective falls in love with Mary himself, Ted tries to get himself back into Mary's life without his help.
