Scott, I think the 'writers', (very many of them) take homage to some episodes. Of course you might know Ooter and Milhouse were both 'pureed' and (at least Ooter baked) way back when. Milhouse lives. Ooter lived on and off. Mostly off. At this time off.

Kinda fun and Simpsonisk if you ask me.

Just for the record, I believe its spelled Ute (possibly with an umlaut, i.e. those two dots, over the U).
