1/16/05 ending - WHAT?

Ummm... amybe I'm thick (okay, I am thick), but what's with the "what's this lump" comment at the end of the show? What the heck is that anyway?

I didn't get it, because I missed what was said immediately before it, but I switched to FOX that was running maybe twenty seconds behind Global, and then I got it.

Homer says to Marge "Mr. Burns has made me a freelance employee"; maybe that wasn't his words, but the deal was that he is now working for himself, with the only customer being Mr. Burns.

Now right before that, Mr. Burns had said something about reinstating health benefits to full time employees.

So what we saw was Mr. Burns appearing generaous, he's reinstating the health benefits, but still getting his way, because he is changing the status of the employees. He won't have to for health benefits, since Homer (and presumably most employees) are no longer full time employees of the company, and won't receive the benefits.

Then, Homer notices a lump, and thus he's about to find out that what Mr. Burns made him is not a good thing, and he's about to learn that he doesn't have health benefits.

But was it a "rage lump" a-la the "Angry Dad" episode, or some other kind of lump? You can't be wrong when it comes to lumps! You have to know what is going on!

Before that Burns said "I'm going to give health insurance to all my full-tume employees." Then, in this scene, Homer comes in and says "They made me a freelance consultant" meaning that he's not a full-time employee anymore, and hence doesn't have insurance. So that lump comment is there to show that poor Homey is out of luck.

That was the only line that made LOL the whole episode. Otherwise the rest was blah.

That was a throw back to the "Danger Dog / Angry Dad" episode.

Remember Homer kept getting Angry Knots in his neck
