Grandpa's Job

I was watching the episode where Homer met his mother, and I just realized, that they never said what Abe did for a living. I know its not important, but it seems odd. All we know is that he was in the army, had Herb, got maried, and then had kids. Sure, he could have been a farmer, but I doubt it, as some of the shots show Homer's family living in Springfield, not out in the country.

They had to sell the farm when Homer scared the cows, causing their milk to become sour. At a guess i'd say the family moved into Springfield after that and Abe did various low-skill jobs.

He was an author. He wrote the book on grifting.

Didn't he work as a watchman at a silo for 40 years? possibly a cranberry silo? (The episode where Bart and Lisa write Itchy & Scratchy episodes. Memory....fuzzy....can't....remember....full....sentences.)

And I thought I was going to scoop this one. In the episode entitled, "The Front," where Lisa and Bart write the Little Barber Shop of Horrors script for Itchy and Scratchy, Grandpa tells them or someone that he worked for 40 yrs as a Nightwatchman in a Cranberry Silo. I knew cranberries grew in bogs, but I didn't think they were stored in silos. But after all, it is just a tv show. :O]
