For any Australians, or more specifically people from Melbourne, Nancy Cartwright (voice of Bart, and others) is coming our way!
She will be in Melbourne to promote her new book "My Life As A 10-Year-Old Boy".
According to the Herald Sun (Sunday, 29 Feb., Inside Entertainment liftout, page 11), she will appear at the Astor Theatre, St Kilda, on March 19, with guest musician Fiona Boyes. Admission is AU$30. Nancy will sign copies of her book after the show.
Just thought I'd post in case anyone from Aust. missed it...
Nancy Cartwright's book is definitely not new (it was published in 2000, I believe). This is probably an updated version, since the original edition extols the wonderful marriage of Alec Baldwin and Kim Basinger, and includes other no longer relevant observations. On the plus side, the book includes a lot of information on the painstaking art of the animation process, and a screamingly funny account of special guest voice Kirk Douglas.
She is also touring the silver K line of cartoon cel stores to sign cels, However i cannot get mine signed unless i purchase another. :( haven't got a lazy AUD$800 lying around :(
I never did fully understand that... Australian toilets don't swirl - I've never seen one that does..... I'm not even sure how to describe what they do.... It's more of a woosh-ing action......
During none of the times when I've heard Bart's voice have I heard water doing anything anywhere, turning or otherwise (yes, I know about the myth of the C effect in relation to loo bowls---I'm simply having fun with words).
Slight change of subject: As a resident of Australia I have to say that _The Simpsons_ is more speech-literate than most of the programming, news and current affairs included, that shares timeslots with it on Oz TV. It's one of my favorite TV programs of any kind, and it should be regarded as Oz Channel Ten's flagship program. Ten should hire Homer to read the news.
Only if she wants to retire before 65 years of age and access her superannuation as a lump sum rather than continuing to work beyond 65 while topping up her part time income from her super fund.
As for the swirling toilets, the coriolis force exerted on translating objects due to the rotation of the Earth is very small. It is impossible to observe it in a sink, toilet, etc. I don't care which way the water flows in your toilet, sink, etc. (or your outhouse, Cletus), IT IS NOT BECAUSE OF THE ROTATION OF THE EARTH!
Read "Illustrated Experiments in Fluid Mechanics", specifically the chapter on Vorticity, for an explanation that does not include yelling. It will basically say that you can only observe it in your household if you conduct a very delicate experiment. This experiment will not include pulling the plug in a sink flushing a toilet, or drinking a beer while floating on an inner tube in a swimming pool with the Prime Minister, BTW. No toaster/time machines, rabid waffle irons, or sarcasm detectors, either.
This effect can only be observed in meteorological or hydrological fluid flows. Air masses, ocean currents, etc. In a bathtub or sink, the surface tension force from the dust on the surface of the fluid is greater than the coriolis force.
-Hey, hey (n.Krusty). Disparaging the boot is a bootable offense.
