UK: BBC to stop airing Simpsons

It basically says that BBC have walked out of negotiations for rights to show the Simpsons on terrestrial TV. THIS DOES NOT MEAN THE SIMPSONS WILL SUDDENLY STOP BEING SHOWN ON BBC! They can still show repeats and Seasons 10-12 until 2006. But the successful bidder will also get the right to the repeats in a matter of months, and can begin showing new editions of the programme in 2004. The front runners are C4 and C5.

Give it a couple of years and the advert run channels will have banner ads and annoying pop-ups selling flushproof web-cams and casino's.

Damn it, first Enterprise, now this... what are the BBC doing, saving up all their money just so they can afford to show one football match per year? The Simpsons is probably the best show that the BBC has going for it at the moment, and to lose it for more gardening show repeats is a real bitch.

Seconded... ah well, at least they're moving it to 5 nights a week after the Olympics, so we can record *ahem* enjoy the eps while they're still commercial free.
