After the comic book guy kicks Bart out of his store because he notices Bart's credit card is fake, Bart then picks up a "Covet House" mail order magazine.
He looks at it and says "Our phone doesn't go up to 800, unless..." And the next scene is him receiving packages from the Covet House. Well, what happened? Was something cut out for syndication?
I think there's a scene missing here like Bart flipping to the mail order form or asking Lisa to make a phone call for him.
Any ideas?

the joke is that bart ingeniously figures out a clever way to dial 800 on a phone that doesn't go up to 800 (i.e., by pressing 8-0-0).

There have been cases where people failed to get emergency assistance because there was no eleven - thus they could not dial nine-eleven for help. That's when nine-one-one became the preferred way to say 911.
